TNE in production at NCA

30 May 2017

During late winter 2016, Triona delivered its Transport Network Engine platform (TNE™) to the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) - Kystverket and the system is now in production. Moving forward, the focus will be on the registration, import, and validation of the waterway network and its related data.

Once the data quality has reached an acceptable level, the solution will be integrated with the NCA’s existing web application and made publicly available.

The solution delivered to the NCA includes TNE, GeoServer for presentation of the data in the existing web solution, and Novapoint, provided by Trimble, for data maintenance.

Frode Skjævestad, who works with Geodata at the NCA, describes the benefits of the TNE delivery:

"An updated waterway network is of great importance to the NCA. The NCA’s data is used in many different contexts and a system that ensures the topology in the network and quality of data is of great importance. This enables data to be easily adapted to different needs, ensuring that the NCA’s interests are considered in planning and maintenance work. The internal work with the waterway network and its related data is also easier when all data is reliably correlated to the network. By using TNE, the NCA also has a foundation for interaction and collaboration with other government agencies. such as Bane NOR and Norwegian Public Roads Administration, in areas such as Intermodal transport analysis."

Triona is now assisting the NCA in completing a new waterway network, preparing the data catalogue and importing linked network data. In addition, work is planned to assure the integration between TNE and the NCA’s existing web application www.kystinfo.no.
