Oslo municipality selects SINUS

21 November 2019

Oslo municipality has chosen Triona to supply its SINUS photo and SINUS Infra products, which among other things will be used for updating the Norwegian national road database (NVDB). The contract also includes photographing the entire main road network (with 360° road images).

SINUS photo is based on the use of 360°panorama images of the road or railroad. SINUS photo links maps with different infrastructure-related data to ensure an efficient process for registering data in the NVDB. With panorama images the road can be viewed from the office. All visual information is available, and status and documentation can be easily verified and registered without the need to be out in the field.

SINUS Infra can be used both in the office and out in the field and in both cases quality-assured data can be delivered directly to the NVDB or TNE (Transport Network Engine), without time-consuming and costly intermediary steps. The mobile solution (field client) is customized for tablets and smartphones and handles all types of positioning systems in order to meet the strict requirements when updating to the NVDB.

SINUS Infra can be used by both infrastructure owners such as Oslo municipality, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen), Nye veier, and the new Norwegian regions, as well as contractors obliged to update data to the NVDB as part of their operational contracts.

The SINUS contract with Oslo municipality runs for two years. Together with the contract Triona already has with Statens Vegvesen, other municipalities, and contractors it is the leading supplier of products which are used in conjunctiion with the NVDB.
