SINUS adopts the new road reference system
In conjunction with the municipal and regional reforms which came into force on 1st January 2020, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) introduced a completely new reference system in the National Road Database (NVDB).
Municipal and regional reforms with the resulting merging of counties and municipalities led to the old parsell (HP) and meter reference system not being extended. Statens Vegvesen developed a completely new system. The road reference system, with new concepts such as main route, route segment, road stopping area, and junction. The new road reference system is independent of geographical boundaries and is therefore not vulnerable to eventual future merging of counties or municipalities.
SINUS infra has now adopted the new road reference system as a subscribed application from NVDB using the LES and SKRIV version 3 APIs. Vegviseren was upgraded earlier to the new road reference system.
