Triona develops new data storage for measurement data
Triona is developing a solution for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) which manages measurement data, currently stored in the Norwegian national road database (NVDB). The measurement data constitutes 80% of the data sets in the NVDB and going forward this data will be handled in the ROSITA system which uses TNE (Transport Network Engine) as its platform.
The solution includes further development of ROSITA which is currently used by Statens Vegvesen for the capture and processing of measurement data (track, road surface, and friction data) and the TNE standard product. TNE is used by, among others, the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen), Bane NOR, the Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverket), and other private operators and will be a stable platform for storing, processing, and distributing measurement data.
This upgrade will provide Statens Vegvesen with a modern solution which can be expanded to meet future requirements. Many manual routines associated with the handling of measurement data will also be automated; in particular routines associated with the processing and storage of data in the NVDB. As a result users will have easier and faster access to updated data.
The establishment of new data storage for measurement data is in line with Statens Vegvesen’s aim for master data to be managed by separate business systems, in parallel with selected aggregated data being copied to the NVDB. This will result in a decrease in the number of object types and data sets in the NVDB. External systems such as vegkart (https://www.vegvesen.no/vegkart) will in the future be able to display aggregated measurement data from the NVDB or display details by using the interface towards the new data storage for measurement data.
